Expertise in lighting technology has been an integral part of PINTSCH since the company was founded in 1843 – even before the invention of the electric light. Like many areas in our company, lighting technology has grown from a historical background. With the introduction of LED technology into our lighting components, new challenges for optical systems, control and monitoring electronics, measurement technology and also obsolescence arose.

In addition to a high degree of availability and reliability, the requirements placed on photometric characteristics are also considerable. Among other things, this is reflected in the specifications for luminous intensity distribution, chromaticity coordinates, phantom light and the required service life.

In addition to the SP200LED and P145LED optical level crossing components, PINTSCH has also set the tone for trackside signals.

The LED auxiliary signal indicator (developed according to CENELEC EN5012X, safety integrity level SIL 4) gained EBA type approval and DB series approval in October 2016.
The product portfolio is rounded off by 70 mm and 136 mm LED multi-colour signal lenses. With these multi-colour, low power consumption components, PINTSCH is well positioned to meet the new requirements for light signals.


Light laboratory – measuring, testing, providing safety

The development of lighting products is supported by the company’s own in-house light laboratory. Characteristics such as illuminance and luminous flux, luminous intensity distribution and light colour are measured here. Other capabilities include image-resolving luminance measurement, the determination of the spectral composition of the light from self-luminous sources as well as determining the most similar colour temperature.
